Paul Farr.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Nottingham, Uk in 1973 Paul took up the guitar aged 8. Initially playing classical, he turned to electric in his teens and was hooked. After joining a band whilst still at school, his first taste of gigging and getting paid for the pleasure,re-affirmed what he already knew...this is what he wanted to do, forever!

In '91 Farr went to University College Salford and completed (just!) a Popular Music and Recording Course. More importantly, he met some amazing musicians and after leaving college, found himself immersed in the wonderful Manchester music scene.

Fast forward a couple of years and Paul had his first taste of the session world after being asked to play for Errol Brown (Hot Chocolate). It was a steep learning curve and after 5 long tours it was time to re-establish his musical roots in Manchester.

After playing and writing with several projects and working as a session musician for artists such as Lily Allen, Tom Jones, Corinne-Bailey Rae, Joss Stone and many more, Farr decided to start his own band.

Ingeniously named,'The Paul Farr Band 'is an instrumental group playing Farr's original music. Mixing jazz, blues, funk and whatever else you can think of, it has been gigging for the last 8 years at jazz venues and festivals around the country. Their first album 'Thinking Big' features bass maestro Sylvan Richardson, Cinematic Orchestra's drummer Luke Flowers, sax star Andy Schofield and young keyboard player Jamie Safiruddin. The current line up retains Flowers behind the kit but bass duties now falls to Neil Fairclough who also happens to be Queens bass player!

With a second album in the pipe line and an off shoot bluesier version of the band planned, the next year should be a productive one.

When not performing with his own band, Paul has the pleasure of being the guitarist for several other projects including 'The Kyla Brox Band'. Kyla has been nominated twice for best British Blues Vocalist and last year was nominated for Best European Blues Vocalist.
